Program Overview

The Bachelor of Engineering Technology major in Mechanical Technology, Option B: Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Technology focuses on the design, analysis, and application of refrigeration and air-conditioning systems. This includes thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and energy efficiency in climate control technologies.

Program objectives

The Bachelor of Engineering Technology in Mechanical Engineering Technology major in Refrigeration and Air-conditioning Technology (BET-MET-RAC) Program shall produce graduates who had:

  1. Provide students with relevant and appropriate theoretical and practical know- how in refrigeration and air-conditioning engineering technology.

  2. Generate quality and innovative researches relative to refrigeration and air-conditioning engineering technology for utilization and commercialization.

  3. Extend program-generated technology and practical expertise to the community and other stakeholders to foster economic growth in the community.

  4. Inculcate desirable work attitudes and moral values that will promote productivity, industrial peace and environment-friendly society.

  • c.4 Conduct investigation of broadly -defined problem; locate, search and select relevant data from codes, data bases and literature design and conduct experiments to provide valid conclusions.
  • c.5 Select and apply appropriate techniques, resources and modern engineering and IT tools, including prediction and modelling, to broadly –defined engineering technology activities, with an understanding of the limitations.
  • c.6 Function effectively as an individual and as a member or leader in diverse technical term.
  • c.7 Communicate effectively on broadly defined engineering technology activities with the engineering technology community and with social at large, by being able to comprehend and write effective reports and design documentation, make effective presentation and give and receive clear instruction.
  • c.8 Demonstrate understanding of the societal health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to engineering technology practice.
  • c.9 Understand and commit to professional ethics and responsibilities and norms of engineering technology practice.
  • c.10 Understand the impact of engineering technology solutions in societal and environment context and demonstrate knowledge of and need for sustainable development.
  • c.11 Demonstrate an awareness and understanding of management and business practices such as risk and change management and understand their limitations.
  • c.12 Recognize the need for, and have the ability to engage in independent and life-long learning.
  • c.13 Exhibit concrete actions for the sustainable use of the natural resources and protection of the environment.
