Our History

How the College of Engineering and Computational Sciences began, and how it has grown.

  1. The College of Engineering and Computational Sciences traces its roots to the former College of Engineering and Technology, which for years offered civil, sanitary and engineering technology programs to students across the Partido area.

  2. In 2023, the Board of Regents approved a strategic realignment that merged these programs with the Bachelor of Science in Information Technology, Computer Science and Mathematics programs previously under the College of Arts and Sciences, forming the College of Engineering and Computational Sciences (CEC) as it stands today.

  3. Since then, the college has grown its faculty, expanded its laboratories, and produced graduates who have gone on to pass licensure examinations and enter both industry and public service — carrying forward a mission of producing globally competitive, socially responsible engineers and computing professionals.
